It is true that the carbs in beans, including pintos, have a low glycaemic index, so do not raise blood sugar — and therefore stimulate insulin — in the same way as refined carbs. But they are still carbs, and as I say in the article, for as long as carbohydrate is available to the body, you will not switch to burning ketones, because there is no need.
